RAF Cold War Jets By Chris Sandham-Bailey

Slightly disappointing
Although this magazine/ book has great profiles they have an annoying habit of being all different sizes (ie scales) and not, unlike the front cover, all being level. The (usually) excellent artwork is spoiled by poor editing and poor proof reading. For example the Lightning is described as "Lighting" and in the Harrier pages the same captioning is repeated against quite a few profiles. Although I was not expecting quality up to the Warpaint series standards I was anticipating more accurate information and interesting captioning for some of the profiles. Nontheless a valuable addition to most modellers bookshelf for the rarer colour schemes but the die hard aviation enthusiast will be disappointed.

Good book on the formation and rise of Arab countries and their Air Forces in the inter war period.
Another excellent book from the Middle East @ War series by Helion. This Volume (Vol.4) on the rise of Arab Air power mostly concentrates on the formation of Saudi Arabia and the air power involved, Iraqi Air Force and Egyptian Air Force in the 1930s. Also delves into early civil aviation in Egypt with a refreshing no nonsense view of the politics involved. Many black and white pictures of the characters and planes involved and a few pages of profiles. Ideal for anyone interested in 1930's aviation, Arab Air Forces or the political machinations of the Middle East in the inter war period.
The Armed Forces of the Gulf States: Volume 2. Oman, 1921-2012 (Middle East@War)

Excellent book on this countries armed forces.
This is an excellent book for the serious and casual reader interested in Middle East affairs. After a brief (very brief) summary of the early military history the story really starts in 1959. All 3 services are covered in this book with many illustrations of orders of battle, badges, cap badges and there is a good section of AFV and aircraft profiles. There is also a page of uniform paintings and a page of formation badges. Overall very good.
