We build boats out of HDPE, or High Density Polyethylene.
This is a very strong plastic from industry, also used for sewers, gas lines, water tanks and large work boats.
Indestructible
HDPE is recyclable and lasts a very long time. You sail it on the rocks, up against the dock? No problem. This is because of HDPE's shock absorbing ability, instead of breaking or cracking it absorbs the energy, and you have no damage!
No Antifouling needed, 100% maintenance free
HDPE also grows on much less than other materials. As a result, you no longer need antifouling. Even better, the antifouling doesn't adhere to the boat either! This is better for the environment, cheaper, and easier. Every once in a while take the boat out of the water, hose it down. No corrosion (aluminum), rust (steel), wood rot (wood) or osmosis (polyester).
