Sounds excellent on radio or cassette with studio headphones Sennheiser HD580.
You may need to replace just one belt. Head cleaning etc will produce excellent results. The high frequency detail is amazing.

This book has been a great inspiration while developing the Pleiades V6 prepreamp.
Phil Ramone would leave the string section microphone on even when they were not playing. It added to the amazing sound he produced

MD21 HL (high impedance great to connect to iPad for GarageBand).
Clearly one of the best microphones ever made. Body, great midrange, great HF. High output, large diaphragm p, great magnet.
The hi impedance option (inside there is a great step up transformer) is a blessing. You have a very high signal similar to what a condenser capsule gives. All you then need is to connect a JFET as is done in a condenser microphone. Then you get a very high signal at low impedance. With just a K117 JFET and a ndenser capsule gives. All you then need is to connect a JFET as is done in a condenser microphone. Then you get a very high signal at low impedance. With just a K117 JFET and a 220ohms source resistor the JFET can be powered directly form an iPad (see Pleiades schematics). The whole pre preamp can fit inside a Tuchel connector.
So with a very small budget and some time you can have one of the quietest and most revealing setups that is portable too and you can ndenser capsule gives.
