Raw Beginnings
I came across the name Chris Thomas king reading a book on the blues presented by Martin Scorsese and which was related to the release of a CD blues collection called "The Blues - A Musical Journey". All my life, I've been interested in the very latest sound around and... the Blues! " It's the ROOTS OF IT ALL! It can be traced back to the turn of the 20th. Century. 'A Young Man's Blues' starts with a terrific track which has a fairly classic treatment, but "Why Blues"is a really good song. The rest of the tracks on the album are really cool - but nothing so outstanding as the first track. This is an early release of Mr. Thomas King's (1999) so I'm ready to hear some more recent work by a guy who clearly has rare talent and has a natural feel for the Blues. I've a more recent release from Chris Thomas King that I've reviewed seperately. It's an entirely different concept to 'A Young Man's Blues'. It's a coincidence - my Ebay name has always been 21st.centuryblues which is also the name of Mr. Thomas King's company.

STRANGE DAYS AND NIGHTS
This could be the most engaging, most entertaining, most culturally offbeat Cult Crime Film of 2002.
Paris Blues [DVD] - DVD HQLN The Cheap Fast Free Post

Probably fresh in the 60's but old hat today!
The documentary style opening to the movie is wonderful - promising but the movie just doesn't lift off. Newman and Woodward are awful. Characterization is weak and the story-line non-existent. The charm and exuberance of Louis Armstrong saves it. The original poster, by the way, is brilliant.
