This new edition tells the story of how the wine came about almost by chance, retracing the roots of the winemaker's family and Mario Incisa's efforts to change local habits to create an Italian equivalent of a Bordeaux First Growth. The book is the ultimate source on Sassicaia: author Marco Fini, has interviewed the major players multiple times over a thirtyyear span. Along with the history of Sassicaia, the book also explores the prizewinning thoroughbred race horses that train at the estate and the Bolgheri Bird Sanctuary, the first in Italy. With its rolling hills, cypress-lined avenues, and vineyards, the breathtaking beauty of the Tuscan coast is shown in its best light in all seasons by photographer Etienne Hunyady. AUTHOR: Etienne Hunyady, born in Lausanne in 1968, spent his childhood in Italy but went to college in the USA to study literature and art. He began working over twenty years ago in New York. He has lived in Tuscany since 1998, where he photographs interiors, landscapes, and portraits for magazines, hotels, and wine producers. His work has appeared in magazines in Europe and the USA, and he has published three books, one of them with teNeues: Luxury Houses Toscana. Marco Fini, who was born in Florence in 1934, is a journalist who has worked with Italian weeklies Panorama and Epoca. He has been active since the 1960s and has cowritten TV programs including La Forza della Democrazia and L'Italia del boom for RAI 2 with Corrado Stajano. He has published numerous essays including Gli americani in Italia (Feltrinelli). He presently splits his time between Milan and Tuscany. Item arrived in promised condition but shipping was slow thanks to the USPS (NOT the shipper). The item traveled from Connecticut to Salt Lake City to San Francisco to Oakland to Reno to Boise and finally to my home in Idaho - four hours north of Salt Lake City. I would love to know why the USPS deemed it worthy of such a trip.
