  Good quality, good valve, but painted or sprayed with a material that is difficult to remove, detracting from the original appearance.

  There is no paint or any coating. If you remove anything you are removing bare clean aluminum. That is correct.... The part has been vapor blasted... No coatings required. If you want the original finish, sand blast it with a fine media.
