  Quality and condition of the item was new, so in that sense this was as expected. However, as I was charged VAT at checkout, I naturally (as in all previous buys on eBay) expected not having to pay vat on receival of the item. This was not the case - on top of VAT I also had to pay a handling fee from my local customs authorities, that would have been avoided if VAT had been taken care of in advance. By consideral effort I got a refund from eBay but only partly and obviously not the handling fee
