The only reason I bought this new Emtek was to simplify the installation. I was able to use the existing latch and striker plate assembly. Otherwise , I would have purchased a new Schlage. The Schlage are all lever handles and appear to be commercial quality. Based on my 20 years of use experience , the Schlage are sturdier. However, this Emtek hardware does look nice,
