I first heard about Bitcoin in the summer of 2011, back when I was studying Business Information Technology in Stuttgart, Germany. Without knowing much about it, the concept of a decentralised money which safeguards itself instantly caught my attention. A year later, after trying out mining and buying my first burger with Bitcoin at a friend's nerdy-tech joint, I decided to dig deeper into the topic.
