Product Information
Two English map makers, Reginald Anson and George Garrad arrive in a small Welsh village to measure Ffynnon Garw, a nearby landmark prized by the locals as 'the first mountain in Wales'. After measuring it, they discover that it is 15 feet too short to qualify as a 'mountain' and is actually just a hill. Outrage sweeps the town, until two locals devise an ingenious plan to ensure their 'hill' takes its rightful place in history as a mountain.

Because the book has so much more to offer with the events as they unfold, the characters and their shenanigns, the dialogue, including Allan, the 100 year old man with his humorous dry wit comments about situations and people. And the flashbacks to Allan's earlier days are superb. The movie treats much of that superficially. And so, I found the movie to be dull and disappointing.
