Based on the writing of Lucy Maud Montgomery, the series follows Sara Stanley, a girl from a wealthy family who is sent to live with family members she barely knows on Prince Edward Island by her workaholic father after her mother passes away. There, she learns many lessons about life through struggling to connect with her seemingly cold caregiver Aunt Hetty, making friends and enemies, and spending her free time gallivanting with her rascally cousins Felicity and Felix.
