One chapter covers the development of jet types that went into full production and would have seen action had the war continued a little longer: the American Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star and the Ryan FR Fireball, the German Heinkel He 162 and Bachem Ba 349 Natter and the British de Havilland Vampire. A summing-up chapter compares the capabilities of the various jet aircraft and assesses how they would have fared had they met in combat.
