Reviews
**STARRED REVIEW** "This expansive volume takes a holistic approach to the topic of trees in nature, history, and the imagination . . . Through the multiangled perspective, Socha and Grajkowski subtly allude to the way that branches of knowledge cross-pollinate and interconnect.", Drawn with detail and vivid color . . . this book continues the tradition of high-quality nonfiction., Every double-page spread is chock-full of colorful, stylized, eye-catching art . . . The text, confined to one vertical margin per spread, is accessible . . . and it covers a forest of categories.
Synopsis
Part botany, part history, part cultural anthropology--the illustrated nonfiction picture book Trees goes beyond the basics to tell readers everything they might want to know about this particular branch of the plant kingdom. Trees explores the important roles trees play in our ecosystem, takes an up-close-and-personal look at the parts of trees (from roots to leaves), and unpacks the cultural impact of trees from classification systems (like family trees) to art forms (like bonsai trees). Looking forward, Trees also addresses the deforestation crisis. Heavily illustrated by Wojciech Grajkowski in the same style as Piotr Socha's Bees: A Honeyed History , Trees: A Rooted History serves as a beautifully packaged celebration of trees of all kinds. - r***1 (179)- Évaluations laissées par l'acheteur.6 derniers moisAchat vérifiéThe book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++
- k***a (326)- Évaluations laissées par l'acheteur.Dernier moisAchat vérifiéPositive experience but could be better. Item description was accurate but, it was shipped in a simple bag with no carton or any protection. The bag was broken in places and the USPS bent the book like it was a newspaper and ruined what was an excellent looking book. That was clearly the USPS fault but a "Do Not Bend" or carton would help next time. Otherwise accurate description, value, condition and Fast shipping. I'm a returning customer and will keep buying from World of Books
